Following on from the successful Kinnitty Castle Knight Run, Mid Ireland Adventure presents the Slieve Bloom Half Marathon trail run this September.
A first of its kind in the midlands, The Slieve Bloom Half Marathon is a test of endurance and mind over matter. This 21km (13.1miles) trail run sets out from the Kinnitty Community Centre and takes the Mountrath road to the Slieve Blooms Mts, Ireland’s largest state-owned Nature Reserve.
On a clear day, one can see the high points of the four ancient provinces of Ireland. Legend has it Fionn MacCumhaill lived as a young boy in secret in the Slieve Blooms not knowing who his parents were.
Competitors will take in breath taking views of the Slieve Blooms while traversing the hidden valleys of one of the oldest mountain ranges in Europe. All competitors will receive a free mountain buff with entry.
